Meet Our Founder

Dan Freehling (he/him) is an organizational leadership coach/consultant who works with leaders and teams worldwide. He is the author of The Career Design Map, the host of the Forward-Looking Leadership podcast, and a Harvard Business Review contributor.

  • Prior to founding Contempus Leadership, Dan led highly rated, multimillion-dollar leadership and organizational development contracts for federal clients and oversaw a flagship global coaching program. More on his leadership accomplishments can be found via LinkedIn.

  • Dan has earned both an MA in Organizational Leadership and Learning from the George Washington University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While at GW, Dan conducted independent research on state-of-the-art leadership theory and practice.

  • Dan is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Associate Certified Coach (ACC), having demonstrated the rigorous training, experience, performance, and knowledge standards required by the leading coaching credentialing organization. Dan holds a Coaching Certificate from the Association for Talent Development (ATD). He has also graduated from both Coach U’s Core Essentials program and Professional Essentials program, totaling over 150 hours of coaching education.

  • Now residing in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, Dan has called Boston, Washington, DC, and New York City home over the past decade. In addition to his obsession with all things leadership, he enjoys entertaining friends and family (learning to cook from his Sicilian grandmother didn’t hurt), taking long walks with an iced coffee in hand, and exploring Boston’s dining scene with his wife, Heather.
